Russia is planning a manned mission to the moon in 2029. The Russian space agency is designing a new spacecraft for the mission that will also be able to dock with the International Space Station (ISS). The first flight will be in 2021, followed by a visit to the ISS in 2023, and finally and unmanned mission to the Moon in 2025.
This will certainly make Russia a key player in the colonization of the moon.
“We have to go to the Moon. The 21st Century will be the century when it will be the permanent outpost of human civilization, and our country has to participate in this process,” as Prof Igor Mitrofanov, of the Space Research Institute in Moscow, told BBC News.
